The goals of the PIM CME Program are as follows:
- To be a recognized leader for jointly and co-sponsored continuing medical education activities
- To enhance the knowledge and attitudes of the medical community by collaborating with organizations who share our commitment to developing truly effective independent certified education, thereby positively impacting the delivery of medical care
- To subject activity planning to rigorous quality standards through clinical content review, thereby ensuring that PIM educational content is valid, balanced, scientifically objective, and evidence-based
- To employ instructional strategies for adult learning that address target audience knowledge gaps and, when known, learning preferences
- To deliver information of sufficient depth that encourages learners to reflect on their clinical practice and apply what they learn in their own patient encounters
- To advance the CME enterprise through leadership in the profession for the purpose of demonstrating the value of CME as a strategic asset within overall the healthcare enterprise
- To diligently seek out data on effectiveness, knowledge gain, attitudes about behavior change and learner satisfaction to provide feedback for continuous quality improvement and to validate the work of PIM
- To keep pace with the changing healthcare environment
- To maintain a strong committment to our learners’ professional development
- To support the professional development of our staff and hold in-service trainings to provide assurance that staff involved in the CME Program are aware of changes impacting the CME enterprise
- To be recognized as an expert source for regulatory compliance by developing and implementing activities in strict compliance with the regulations and ethical codes promulgated by the agencies and organizations that govern the CME enterprise
