How long have you worked in CME/CE?
9 years
Many of us “landed” in CME/CE from elsewhere, what led to your career in CME/CE?
I was working in business development for a medical association. The opportunity to start in a new department "CME/CE" was presented and I decided to pursue the challenge.
In your opinion, what are some of the most pressing challenges or opportunities facing CME/CE today?
Identifying and executing out of the box educational design is the most challenging, but when done right can be an extremely successful educational experience for the learner. This in turn provides lasting patient outcomes.
What are some of the most important things you have learned during your time in CME/CE?
Most people outside of CME/CE do not understand it. The standards have many interpretations and it is important to collaborate with those in the industry to identify the accepted boundaries. Although there appears to be a lot of gray when you are first starting out, those within the industry have analyzed the standards to identify the hard boundaries. Sometimes a "standard" is not through the ACCME, but your own organization. 99% of the time, you can work through any issue and proceed as long as you understand how to move forward within the accepted interpretation of the ACCME standards.
Please share a fun or interesting fact about yourself.
I was the president of the Colorado Alliance for CME from 2019 - 2023. I concluded my time on the board as the past president in 2024 and remain a resource for the board if questions arise.
